Title: 5.5 month old wide awake for up to 2 hours overnight!
Post by: lynseyb29 on January 12, 2011, 10:06:32 am
Hi ladies,
My twins have always been good sleepers and sttn. However, ds seems to be waking overnight between 12  -2 am and is wide awake. He babbled a bit and moans for his paci. When I give it back he just pulls out and fiddles with it, drops it then crys again!  I am reluctant to just leave him as he wakes his sister up! After 2 hours or sometimes less I end up holding his arms down and he will go off.

He also has a lovey. They both have never napped well and generally sleep for 45 mins, occasionally he will nap for 1-2 hours. The problem does seem to have coincided with moving them into their own room and I also think they may be teething.

Our easy is something along these lines-
7am bottle
8am solids
915 sleep
10am activity
11am bottle
1230-1300 sleep
14-1430 activity
1500 bottle
1630 solids

Cn somewhere in evening
615 bath
645 bottle bed

Naps can vary but feeds are always the same.

Any advice appreciTed. The problem has been ongoing since Christmas

Hi there, have you tried pain meds for the teething?  He may be more sensitive than his sister.  Do you think the paci is a prop?  Have you tried more A time in the morning?  The first nap could be UT which leads to UT/OT loop.

Hi
Thanks for reply. I have tried pain relief which sometimes helps. I am trying to wean the paci for naps at the moment and have tried to increase his A time to 2.5 hr.

Last night he did not wake at all!!! Not even for paci! Guess it's just figuring out why??!!

Sometimes we will never know the why - just go with it.  Keep us posted!
