Title: Finally falling asleep quicker after using PU/PD...BUT STILL TOO MANY NW
Post by: Avaya on April 09, 2011, 14:06:44 pm
Hi BW friends,

I have been using EASY and doing PU/PD with my 9 1/2 month old for just over 2 weeks....my successes are 1. finally a clearer EASY sched./day to plan our lives around.  2. No more nursing to sleep.     3. No more sleeping in my bed   4. DD falling asleep in much shorter PD sessions  5. Better naps

BUT SHE IS STILL NOT STTN!!!  She wakes up between 3-6 times.  Sometimes I think it's gas because she is tossing and turning, and once she finally passes gas she will settle for a couple of hours. But my doc says there is nothing wrong with her, she is healthy, and such a happy baby during waking hours, great weight etc.  I try giving gripe water and oval drops, but no less NW.

Really I'm not sure what the problem is, I thought this PU/PD was going to take of her not STTN issue....but 2 weeks into it, I'm feeling exhausted and down in the dumps.  Anyone else going through this at this age?  I could use some support right about now.

Here is my IDEAL EASY, it varies depending when she wakes up in the morning and the length of her naps, sometimes her naps are an hour, sometimes an hour and a half...and sometimes her A times are shorter than I'd like, bc I can tell she is sleepy, yawning, rubbing eyes.....it's probably bc of all the NW!!!

Around....
6:30/7:00 wake/BF
8:00/8:30 solids/brkfst
9:00/10:00 NAP  ***Rarely makes it to 3 hours awake time****

10:30/11:30 wake/BF
12:30 solids/lunch
1:30/2:30: NAP  ***Usually has 3 hours of awake time from her last nap***

3:00/3:30:wake/bf
5:30 solids
6:30/7 BF and bedtime routine (diaper, pjs, book, kisses, crib...PD

Thanks for the hugs :)

Hey, thanks for the advice.  I try pushing the morning A time, but she is sooo tired from her rough nights....her first nap is when she goes down the quickest,  I know for sure she's not bored.  Her afternoon A time is pretty good....and as for the last A time,  I thought 4 hours for an almost 10 month old was ok? ...otherwise she would be put to bed really early....not to mention that if the 4 hour awake time is long, then how do ppl are move from 2-1 nap?  I have charted my baby's NW for the last few weeks and she has woken up 5x pretty consistently.  She does not act too miserable, so I'm terribly confused.  Last night I did PD from 2-4am!  She fell asleep several times in that period, but then would just wake up and stand up.  Anyway, my peers and family are insisting that I let her CIO...I feel so sad about doing that, but I'm also feeling like this BW way has not shown progress for STTN ...and I really am true to the method. Starting to give up :(

WoW...that gave me goosebumps.  Thanks for the link Jane.  I am going to the doctor today, and I will share it with him too.
