For the last week my 16 month old daughter has been trying to do somersault. On my bed or couch she can do a kind of half one but now she is trying to do them on the floor. I am worried about her neck and I know she is getting fustrated, so is there any one who can help me by telling me a step by step of how to show a 1.5 yrs old how to do a somersault.

I always remind little ones to watch their belly button the whole time to help keep their neck tucked.
-
thats a good one...ive been wondering this myself!
-
She has now mastered the somersault, lots of practice on my bed then I got her 5 yr old cousin to come over and show her how on the carpet. It a all day thing now ::)

LOL, very cute! DS tries to do it, but he can get his feet close enough to his body, so we still help him. He's like his mommy and grandad: we're both pathetically not flexible!

The song we learned in gymnastics at that age was, "hands down. Touch the ground. Roll over.". Not quite step but might help a bit.
-
Thats so cute!!!! ;D I wonder where she got the idea from?
In gymnastics they have dd place her hands on the ground in front of her..(just like the above song!), then squat down and lower her head, then tuck her head and roll!
-
"head down. touch the ground....". Sorry. Been a few years since I had to sing that song.

is anybody else reading that song in a winnie-the-pooh voice? :P :)

"'Cause I am short, fat--proud of that!" ;)

You ladies crack me right up.

Well now I'm hungry... :)
When I up, down and touch the ground
It puts me in the mood,
Up, down and touch the ground
In the mood for food
