Hello
My daughter is 2 years old and generally sleeps well due to PUPD and WIWO.
Lately at bedtime she has been screaming that she doesn't want to go to bed.
She is totally hysterical which is VERY rare for her.
I don't know what to do.
It is clearly a "will" issue. She is not hungry or in pain or anything else.
She has also been having trouble with early waking as well. In the past people have recommended we move her naps up but we have found that she doesn't fall asleep as well and doesn't sleep as long if we put her to bed any earlier than 1:30.
Here is her general routine:
Wake 7:30 am
breakfast 9 am
lunch at 12:00
nap from 1:30-3:30
dinner 5:30
bedtime 8
Thanks alot

She could be UT at bedtime. I would try cutting her nap to 1.5hrs, OR if you prefer to keep a longer nap, putting her down to bed 30mins later. Also at around 2yrs we found DS1 needed a longer wind down before bed.

Just curious Martina. What did you do for your wind down at this age. Hope you don't mind the question peacefulwarrior:)

I also think she sounds UT. Long nap and not enough A time before BT.
What is her temperament?
-
Agree. At this age we had to nap cut too to get a more peaceful bedtime. 4.5 hours A time is really not a lot for a 2yo after such a long nap.

Thanks alot for your help - we are gonna play around with her naptime - 1:30 to 3:00.
Her temperment has generally been textbook or angel baby. As she gets older she is definitely asserting her will more and wants to have control of her environment.
Thanks alot!

At around 2yrs old, after bath we would let DS1 come downstairs and hang out. He could watch 1 tv show and he would get a bedtime snack. Then we'd do pyjamas and tooth brushing, some stories, then up to bed and sing some lullabies before lights out. It was a much longer and more mature type of wind down, where as before we'd whisk him straight to his room after bath and do pyjamas, stories, etc., there. We noticed this started to make him wound up, like as soon as he was in his room he knew what was coming, which is why we let him come downstairs and wind down a little more on his own time. It has worked very well for us since then. :)
