Title: Sudden night wakings in my 20lb 5 month old
Post by: WishfulSleeping on August 17, 2011, 18:15:42 pm
So, my second boy who is now 5 months old and weighs 20lbs, has recently started to wake up at night around 4am or 5.  He's been sleeping 8hrs straight since 2.5 months, and 12hrs straight since 3.5 months.  So, it's not normal for him to wake.  He settles the first time he wakes with a paci, but then he just wakes up again an hour or so later.  I went ahead and fed him, and he nursed like he was starving.  So... I'm thinking that he's just really hungry.  I haven't started solids with him yet, and as big as he is, 5 feedings a day probably isn't cutting it anymore.  This what our day looks like now...

4 or 5 am -Wakes and nurses

8am feeds

9:30- Naps

11am- Wake and nurses

12:30- Naps

2:30- Wakes and nurses (although today, he woke up at 1:45- go figure)

3:45- Naps

5pm Wakes and nurses

8pm- Nurses and goes down for the night

He's on a partial 1.5 easy, but I think he's probably getting too old for that right?  How do I increase my nursing sessions to avoid night wakings?  Or is this just a sign that my 20lb big guy needs to start on solid foods?  We've been holding out on that.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I meant to say 3hr EASY, with it being an 1.5 between naps and feedings.

Sorry you don't have any responses yet :(  I'm mainly bumping this for you, but your LO really should be on a solid 4 hour EASY by now and that could very well be the crux of your problem.
