Title: Book recommendations
Post by: *debs* on October 08, 2011, 00:36:06 am
My DS is 5 mths & I was wondering at what age should I be introducing story time in his wind down routine? Do you read before naps as well as bedtime? Any recommendations of books to start with?

For bedtime I'd keep it quiet..."Goodnight Moon" is a classic and dd STILL likes it!  At that young age it's about the sound of your voice and the colors on the page...bonding time for sure...the start of the love of books!  There is really no such thing as "too young"...we read to dd in the belly and as soon as she came out!   :)   We also love "Guess how much I love you",  "Runaway Bunny" and "on the night you were born"...which STILL makes me cry!!!   :)

LOVE all the books Anne suggested! Other favorites are: I Love You Through and Through; How Do I Love You?; It's Time to Sleep My Love; It's Time for Bed; Peepo, Each, Peach, Pear Plum. I could go on!

Anyways, yes read to your baby! I started reading to my 2.5 yr old as soon as he was born and he still loves reading stories and has most of them memorized! He even reads books to his baby sister!
