I've read a lot on various websites about a 4 month regression. My daughter has been such a good sleeper since 6 weeks but since she turned 4 months she's been waking like a newborn again. it's now 3 weeks later and although we've had some good nights she's still not sleeping as well as before.
on a good night she'll sleep 7pm wake a 9:30 and sleep until 6:30am. on a bad night she'll sleep at 7pm wake a 8pm, 9:30pm, 12am, 2am, 3am, 4am, 7am
She used to rely on her dummy for every sleep so we've reduced her dummy use dramatically. She can fall asleep in her pram without it and she falls asleep for the night without it and after her dreamfeed (9:30) - the only times she really needs it is if she's napping in her cot in the day. The problem is when she wakes frequently in the night it's impossible to get her back to sleep without giving her a dummy. I've tried PU/PD and rolling her on her side for shhhh/pat but she's not interested.
So, I guess I'm asking - will the 4 month regression phase go soon (and nothing to do with the dummy)? or do I need to address her need for the dummy in the night?
Thanks for any advice... x

Hi,
Just wanted to offer hugs - we're just hitting 4 months with our DD now and going through a sleep regression too (I have a post going but no replies as yet :( ) So you have my sympathies. We had a lot of problem with our older son when he hit this stage also - and his was dummy related. We ditched the dummy completely and persevered with PUPD and he's been a brilliant sleeper ever since. Just my opinion but if you think the dummy is a problem, I would gear up to get rid of it and do PUPD, it does work... Good luck...

We did PUPD and I only fed if a certain time frame had passed to encourage more daytime eating rather than night eating and our NW went from 7-8 NWs a night to 2 after just a few days. There was a day here and there in a two week time span that was rough, but for the most part, we had success. Saying this, our last 2 nights have been the worst ever as she has learned to roll and has found her feet...and it is all she wants to do during naps and at night (and all day too), so just remember...two steps forward, one step back. Good luck!
