My little one has never slept fabulously and I have tried mutliple things including just waiting it out to see if he will out grow it, but that is not happening. He was sleeping better before the time change in the fall. Prior to that he was going to be about 9 and getting up about 6:30. Since the time change I can't seem to get him to sleep that well. I read on here about him maybe being overtired and so we have changed up our timing a bit. He now goes to bed around 8, which before the last hour was no fun anyway because he was so cranky so I think that was much needed. The first night he slept all night, till about 5:30, which is actually better than normal, but since then he is back to his same night wakings. He normally only wakes up once during the night and he does go back to sleep faster now, but he still wakes up and I have to go in give him his binki and get him back down. Before I had to stay in the room until he fell asleep, which was sometimes 30 minutes, now he has been going back to sleep much easier. But he is waking up in the mornings between 5-5:30 and won't go back to sleep. This morning I spent 30 minutes going in and laying him down with his binki and leave. Within 2-3 minutes he would be standing up again crying. After the 30 minutes he started screaming every time I tried to lay him down. Even after I got him out of his crib if I laid him down in my arms to cradle him or even sat in the rocker he would start screaming. The only way to get him to quit was to stand up and hold him upright. Finally at 5:45 I had to be up for work anyhow so I ended up letting him play on the bathroom floor while I got ready and he was happy as could be. As far as the rest of his schedule goes I am a little unsure. I work FT and have a babysitter. I have asked her to follow his routine but am not sure as to if this happens or not. When I am home, he usually naps again around 8:45 for 1-1.5hrs and then again around 1 for another 1-1.5hrs and occasionally he will take a short nap around 4 for 30min. Do you think he is getting too much sleep during the day? Or does someone have another idea?

Hi sweetie!
It sounds a lot like your LO might be at the beginning of the 2-1 nap transition. Have a read of this sticky (there's a link in it that makes for some more good reading) and let us know what you think:

Basically, I think your thought is right -- he needs to start moving to one nap and is getting too much sleep during the day as a result.

I think you may be right. Yesterday the babysitter said he only took about a 20 min pm nap. But he did sleep slightly better and got up a little later. :) So maybe if we keep working on it this way, he will eventually get back to a better sleeping pattern. Let's hope so anyway.

Sounds like a plan!
