DS2 is 3 months old and hates tummy time!! He just complaints! Right now he just had a tantrum because he didn't like it although he likes it when i put him over a pillow. I even tried tummy sleeping the other day and he woke up ! ::)

Is he refluxy at all? My dd2 had silent reflux and really hated tummy time. Tbh even if you can do it for a minute or 2 each day it's worth trying :)

My DS didn't like it as he was (is) very nosy and that didn't work for him just starting at the ground lol. He was born holding his head up and is very strong. He never snuggled his head in to sleep either, always had that head up stretching and lurking about making sure not miss anything. I still practiced tummy time with him though as I knew it was developmentally important. I would roll up a soft, snugly blanket into a bolster and propped him at his chest up high so he could still see things at higher levels, much happier! Funny enough he didn't crawl or sleep on his tummy until he was 9 months old and then he started walking at 10 months old.

Remember tummy time also counts if they are lying down on top of you (Audrey loves this, we can have a face to face conversation (and I get drooled all over)), or lying across your knees.

Aisling you just described my DS! I use the bf pillow and put it under his chest so he can see all things. He loves this! When he is lying down he even tries to sit up! :o you can see he strengthen his body and tries to get up! He is only 3 months!
Charli he is not a refluxer at all. He just hates tummy time! Loves to sit up.

Wow. LOL thinking of your DS doing sit ups. Also DS could stand holding the couch with out support at 4 months! So don't be surprised if you have an early walker on your hands too! Anna, that is a great point that tummy time on the lap or chest counts too. xo

Goodness, yes, Samuel hates it too. I really think this is why he started rolling from tummy to back-purely to get off his tummy! ;) He won't roll from back to tummy.... :P He may skip crawling and go straight to standing and walking.

Thanks Rachel for that thread. It was very interesting!
My DS is ok if he does tummy time on my lap or with the bf pillow under his chest. He likes to be able to see what's going on. I don't want him to skip crawling since its very importance for their development.
