Just curious that's all!
Lately I have noticed in random threads, certain words, like say bed, show up in people's threads as hyperlinks. If you hover your mouse over them then a text search box pops up. Is it a forum thing or is it something on my browser that I need to get rid of?
As an example, Liz's thread here:
http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=229927.0
In the 4th line down, the last word of the thread is bed, and to me it shows up as blue with a line under it. When I hover my mouse on it I get an advert type text search box? I've seen it in lots of threads lately?

Um, I haven't noticed it! And it doesn't show up in Liz's thread for me.

Not happening for me? Think you might have something going on hun :-\

Oh crap!! My virus program doesn't come up with anything at all. Any ideas on what I need to run to try to clear it, or what program could be causing it?
Tom? ???

Have you put any new programmes on recently? Could Ds have hit something? I remember my sister did something similar to my Dads computer by accidently clicking yes on spyware and it was hard to get it off as virus scanner didnt; pick it up. WHen did it first happen? Would a system restore work?

I remember someone in here had this before. It's not the site, it's your web browser. You have installed something that also installed some adword thingy.
I'll see if I can find out who it was...

Ahhh, it was Wendy lol. We don't remember what program it was, but as it was likely something that was *installed*, it would not be a virus anyway.
Best bet is to look through all the plugins for your web browser to find any suspicious looking plugins about ads.
By the way, some software comes with 'bundled extras' and one thing I have seen them do before now is have a scrolling list of extras with everything you see unselected. It's only when you scroll down that you see all the sneakily hidden stuff that is selected by default. Dirty behaviour :(

I had this too and it happened a lot when I wrote but people couldn't see it. I was a victim of spyware thanks to two two year-olds ;)
Hope that's not it for you.

Thanks - I will take a look and see what I can come up with!

Yeah it was some sort of plug-in that had sneaked in there. Very weird and annoying...and even more so when I was asking DH what it was and he was looking at me like I was nuts...his didn't have it you see lol

Thanks Tom. That is in fact what it was. Grrr. As soon as I read your note about things being tucked-in to programs I remembered that when I updated uTorrent last week there was a point where I had to accept something and it made me raise my eyebrow. I made a mental note to go back and go through things and totally forgot. Went through it today and yes there was a program running that was installed at the same time that uTorrent was updated. I've removed it and everything seems to be okay now. Very dirty of uTorrent!!

Interesting...I do think mine came from Azureus too. Damn torrent programs lol
