Hi,
I've got myself in a right pickle. My little boy has just turned one & he has 200ml before bed (6:30pm) & I DF him between 10-11pm another 200ml. He also has about 60ml on his cereal. He's ok with his solids during the day but I know he could/should eat more but I'm not sure how to stop the DF.
I have another baby due in August so I really want to have stopped it by then!
If I don't DF him, he does wake but I suppose this is out of habit.
Should I gradually reduce it, maybe give him 20ml less each night? The health visitor said to go cold turkey & just give him water!
He generally sleeps 7pm-7pm unless he wakes with teething pain etc
Thanks for any help/suggestions x

I would do it gradually by dropping 1oz (30ml) every three nights until you get down to a couple of oz and then just offer water. He will probably object and you will have a few rough nights while he gets used to it but stick to the plan and he will get used to it. When the DF is dropped Tracy suggests dropping it an oz at a time and giving it half an hour earlier with each oz drop but I'm not sure that would work as well with a toddler. You could always try it!
