I am posting this for a friend because she literally has no time to do anything right now! She has a 3 week old little boy and she is at her wit's end. He cries all the time and especially right after he eats. Her doctor gave her some meds (not sure what they are) but it doesn't seem to be helping. I gave her the advice to watch what she eats- maybe he is allergic to something she is eating. Anyone else have any advice? I don't think she is doing EASY yet, she is just trying to give him a feeding without him crying! I feel so bad- I want to help by my lo didn't experience any of that!

It sounds a whole lot like either reflux or food allergies. I'd probably start by trying to eliminate dairy and soy from my diet, those seem to be the usual culprits. Also, try holding the LO upright after feeding, sleep on an incline, the usual reflux tricks.
Some questions for your friend:
How are his poops? Super runny? Explosive? Mucousy? Any blood? Color? Greenish at all?
Does he spit up at all?
Does he sleep better anywhere? Car seat? Swing?

Here is her reply to your questions:
His poops are normal for breathed babies..seedy yellow. He has never had any blood or greenish color. Sometimes it will be explosive but other times no.
Yes he spits up…usually vomits about once a day.
Does not like sleeping in the swing…actually cries more in the swing. The only two things that have consistently worked are holding him near running water and taking him outside.

Could be reflux -- can your friend read this (or you read it to her) and see if any of it makes sense?

My babies have not been refluxers, but there's great support on this site from ladies who have had one who is.
