Title: Sttn and total for the day
Post by: Ffi12 on September 24, 2012, 17:24:50 pm
DS slept through the night last night and 'missed' one feeding in the middle of the night.  It is about 150 ml.  Do I need to compensate that 150ml throughout the day?  For example, give him 30 ml additional in each feeding?  I don't know if his stomach can hold more.  Thanks!

If he slept through then he probably doesn't need those calories. If you offer full feeds during the day he will take what he needs. If he is draining bottles add another 30ml, there should be enough in the bottle so he stops because he is full and not just because the bottle is empty - there should be a bit left in the bottle at the end of the feed.

How old is he?

Laura,  thanks.  He is 10 week today.  He is eating about 900 ml breast milk (expressed) plus formula a day.  He is about 13 lb.
