First of all :'( :'( :'( *sobs* at my first post on toddler sleep
OK. Audrey's almost 1. She's always been high sleep needs. MOST days she takes two decent naps on 3hrs or less A time, and sleeps 11.5-13hrs at night with one feed at 4-5am. I know we should/could probably drop the feed but tbh I would rather feed for 10 mins and go back to sleep until 7 than have her go through and be up for the day at 6.
So MOST days, she naps well and goes straight to sleep somewhere between 6.30 and 7. However in the last couple of weeks there have been 3 instances where she goes quiet, I think she's asleep, but then hear her playing and then eventually chatting, and then crying, and it ends up being 8.30 before she's asleep. Tonight being one of those nights, went into her cot at 6.50, chatting at 7.10, crying by 20past, gave her Calpol and got her up to listen to Stan's stories (she was pointing in her mouth), put her back in her cot at 7.30, crying until 8.15, now gone quiet again and think she's asleep. So I'm thinking UT as well as teething. She must be somewhat UT right, with such short A times for her age?
I guess I feel like I need to tweak something. I cap her first nap so that she takes a decent pm nap where I can get stuff done (rather than 2 x 1hr or whatever). A normal day is something like
7.10am awake (this can be anything from 6.30-7.30)
10am nap for 30-45 mins (this morning I forgot to set my clock and so didn't wake her but she woke up at 60mins)
1.30pm nap for up to 2hrs (may go down a bit earlier or later but probably only varies by 15 mins each way)
3.30pm awake and school run
6.30-7pm asleep - she's pretty clear when she's tired

Hi Anna,
I would probably start by capping the am nap to 30 mins and then letting her sleep longer for the pm...FWIW M is 16.5 months and she still needs 2 naps most days or she is a mess. I think you probably need to either cap the pm nap to 1.5 and keep BT same time or allow 2 hours and stretch BT by 30 mins or so....we do the first option as M never sleeps in and later BT's just don't seem to work but it might be a good option for A..
A - 7am
Nap - 10-10.30am
Nap - 1.30-3/3.30pm ish
BT - 7.30pm

Thanks for that Becky. That looks good and along the lines of what I was thinking. I need to keep bedtime at 7pm really so that I can do Stan's bed for 7.30, so I guess capping the pm nap is the way to go.

yes, it is what we do and now we are down to 20 min am but we have been on this sort of routine for about 4 months now...
