Title: 8 month old waking for no reason in night
Post by: Kato2 on April 19, 2013, 11:17:26 am
My 8 month old dropped his night feed last week but is still waking 3 times per night... 11.30pm, 2am and 4am. I try to settle him with dummy and a bit of a pat but how can I stop him actually waking in the first place?  He naps well in the day with a first nap of 1.5-2hrs and second of 1.5hrs and has an A time of 3hr- 3.15.

He used to struggle piecing his naps together so I went I before his jolt to put a bit of pressure on his back and this worked... Could the same work for the night wakings?

He goes down at night for bed at 7.30 and is awake when he goes into the cot.

Are his wakings at the exact same time every night?  If so, it would definitely work to put a bit of pressure on his back or you could also try wake to sleep if they happen at the same time.  I'd also look to see if there's anything going on at that time of night that may disturb him.

Yes almost the exact same time every night. There's nothing going on in the house at that time as I've even sat in the room to see. It's as if he stirs a while before and comes out of his sleep cycle. I replace his dummy then he goes straight back to sleep?

I'd definitely try the pressure on his back then, or wake to sleep -- maybe one waking at a time to see if it makes a difference?
