I posted earlier about short naps, but I'm just curious to hear from other parents who have done the 1-0.
My LO (26 months) has typically woken early (6:30 or 7) but recently has wanted to sleep to close to 8am. I wake if she is still asleep at 8am (like when she is sick).
However, her naps have almost all be short at 1 hour 10 mins or 1 hour 20 mins and she wakes unhappy.
Is lengthening night sleep a sign that she's moving toward dropping a nap?

Bumping as we've had similar recently x
-
hard to tell if the longer nights are causing the short nap or the short nap causing the long nights iykwim...there is only so much sleep they need. I remember after 2:1 M was doing short naps but her nights were long as long as i got her down early enough but when he naps lenghthened out her nights got shorter.

Katherine-- glad to know we're not alone.
I can't tell if her sleep needs are dropping or if she just needs a later nap. Today she woke earlier at 7:20am but I couldn't get her down for a nap until 1:40pm and she babbled/played until 2pm so we'll see what happens. Yesterday, she had a 8am WU and then played in her crib from 1-2pm and took a short 1 hour 20 min. nap.
Am I right in thinking 1 hour 10-20 mins is a single sleep cycle? She almost always wakes cranky from a short nap, which makes me think something is off.

Aggh! Another 1 hour 10 min. nap-- at least she woke happy.
I don't know what to do-- PD later?? Help! :(

can you post her routine for the last 2 days - she may need a longer A time in the am. is she teething at all?
-
Sure!
Day 1
8am: wake
1pm: PD for nap, slept 2-3:10pm
8pm: bed (asleep 8:40pm)
Day 2
7:20am: wake
1:40pm: PD for nap, slept 2-3:10pm
8pm: bed (8:20ish asleep)
Happy night waking @ 12pm for 10 mins or so
Day 3
7am: wake
I think she is getting her last molar, but she is waking happy the past few days so I tend to think that isn't it. Last week she was waking unhappy but sleeping 'tiil 8am most mornings. The past two weeks have been pretty erratic. I'm sure some of illness (last week) and also recovering from a 3 hour time change from travel. We have ALWAYS done nap at 1pm and bedtime at 8pm. It's the wake up and nap length that varies.

I would push the nap to 2pm and keep it set, 6-7 hours A is pretty standard at this age. So day might be...
A - 8am
Nap - 2-3.30pm
BT - 8/8.30pm.
What do you think?
-
I'm guessing our WU time will be closer to 7/7:30 so I'm thinking...
7:30am: Up
1:30pm: nap
8pm: bed
Sound about right? She slept almost 2 hours for her nap today after waking at 7 and being put down at 1pm.

Oh dear. Woke up at 6:15am this morning after playing in her crib until 8:30pm last night. I can feel her last molar about to pop through but she woke happy. I'm afraid it was the 2 hour nap yesterday. It seems like her sleep needs have dropped from 13 hours/day to 12 hours/day overnight!
Help!

probably more to do with teeth tbh although it is of course a possibility. I would still stick to the set nap time x
-
I'm thinking teeth too-- with meds she just took a 3 hour nap! It's crazy how her sleep has gone back and forth over the course of this thread. I'm going to stick with the 1pm nap for now since she's been waking earlier and we'll see what happens after this crazy tooth comes in!
