Title: Dried Rose Petal Crafts for Toddlers
Post by: *Ali* on March 06, 2014, 13:46:42 pm
I have a bag of dried rose petals and want to use them in a craft with 1-4yos at a play group to do a fun arts and craft activity. Any simple ideas that will be easy enough little ones to do?

I have considered crushing them and gluing them onto the page like you would with glitter or making some into a play doh recipe. I want to do something nice with them rather than just waste them in a heap of glue but I need to consider that some of the kids are very young.

Could you make a simple pot pourri? Just stir them up with some glitter, maybe some dried lavender flowers, a couple of drops of essential oil, then put them in little cellophane bags with a ribbon to take home for mummy or granny?

Make bath bombs? Would be easy enough if you prepped in advance and didn't try to put them into moulds - cake cases will do. Would make a nice gift for mother's day.

Could you keep them for a couple more weeks and use them on mother's day cards?

Yes I thought about making some card hearts, covering them in the crushed petals and then sticking them on cards.

How does one make bath bombs? Sounds like a lot of ingredients I would need to purchase ???

Thanks ladies.

It's not loads - I've done it once from a kit and I think it was 2 powders, fragrance a colour. You just mix it all together and stuff it in the cake cases!

We needed gloves though, for the fragrance and colour.

Oh sorry, there was a thread but not much on it.
There's a recipe here though if you wanted one

I like the ideas of making a little gift for mothers day.

Thanks for the ideas.

I think the citric acid is a bit dangerous for a playgroup. They have gloves on in the pictures and a warning to not rub eyes which is going to be difficult to manage with a big group of toddlers. I really want something simple they can do themselves.

If you get some lacy fabric you can tie it up in a ball after you put some in the middle.  Might work instead of a bag?
