DS is over six months and we have been trying different foods. On Thursday Logan woke up with a rash on his face - looks almost like eczema. It is tiny red bumps, very dry and red. I thougt that it might be environmental, but now I am thinking its food related. I had started giving DS some foods with blueberries, and raspberries and am now wondering if these are the culprits - he also had diarrhea yesterday after his breakfast. I did some research online and it said that the processed berries in the mixed baby food was ok. Anybody elses' babies have a hard time with berries? Does this sound like a food allergy. I have stopped the packaged baby food and gone back to the simpler purees that I made myself. I wont be using the packages anymore just in case there is something in them that is irritating him.
Thanks for the insight :)

I know many babies can react to strawberries and come up in a contact rash - I assume it is the acid in the juice - could be the same for all berries. Maybe cut out the likely culprits and see if it clears?

Thank you. I have cut them out and again am making all of his food. I did take him to the doctor and she felt it was a viral rash. However, it has been over a week and no improvement :(

Oh no :-[ - is he OK in himself though?

Over a week and he still has the rash? Unless he's still eating the offending food, I would think it should be gone by now. Babies do get strange viral rashes but I would talk to your doc again, or a pharmacist perhaps.

Thanks everybody. He does seem ok otherwise. He had a couple of days with diarrhea, but other than that nothing. He has been on very simple solids again for several days with no change -so I do not think it is food related :(. Starting to wonder if it is eczema.

Probably - could be the berries or just cold weather and heating on inside? Keep it moisturised or get a special cream. Over here we would probably get Sudocrem.

Is sudocresm safe for their face? I have some, but here we use it strictly for diaper rash.
Thank you :)

I've used in on faces, I think it's fine :)
I also have this one which is more expensive but really lovely if you can find it, all natural etc.
