Hi all,
DD is 14 months old and on 3 feeds. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that till a week ago, she was always nursed cross cradle on the feeding pillow - how unadventurous, right? :-\ Well, recently, I'd been having trouble getting her to nurse and I finally understood that she is not interested in lying down and nursing anymore. Since then, she is feeding much better BUT..nursing her is like wrestling an angry squid! She is EVERYWHERE and the positions are mind boggling - upside down, sideways, half falling off the sofa. Now this is fine for the morning and afternoon feed but I feel that something needs to change when it comes to the BT feed. This feed used to be relaxing and soothing but now it revs her up. She is still self settling but it does take her longer to fall asleep. I'm just looking for some ideas on how to tackle this?

I used cross cradle with all of mine. With DD we also do lying side by side in bed for the early morning feed sometimes. They did get up to some acrobatics though.
Have you considered a nursing necklace of some sort for her to fiddle with?

DS nursed in adventurous positions for a long time but BT was a time when I could sit crosslegged on the floor/on a bed and he'd sit on my lap and feed. It was he time to relax and calm down before bed. I guess if she's newly into the acrobatics, there might be a novelty factor and you may find she goes for more sedate BT BFs soon...
It might also be worth doing some wrestling/climbing before bath/BT feed to get the wriggliness out of her system.

Thanks! Will try to get the wiggles out before hand. Glad to know that its normal:) Ali, I will give the necklace a try!
Thank you both - this nursing thing just keeps getting more complicated!

are you sure she's tired at BT? just wondering if she could be a touch UT and if you tried a little later she might have a more peaceful feed and then settle more quickly as well?

No problem with SS, Cath. I think it's taking a bit of time because she is winding down in the crib yk? So small mantra cries but she's clearly ready because her eyes keep closing, she's yawning, everything. For eg:
Yesterday was
8- WU
Nap - 1.45- 3
BT - 8
She moaned for about 5-10 minutes before drifting off.

sounds about right then :)
