Title: Habitual waking?
Post by: choc on December 10, 2015, 21:22:02 pm
My 12 week old wakes every night between 1.30am and 2 am, he works out of his swaddle and wriggles around so much. I get up, reswaddle and he is instantly back to sleep until after 4 usually. Is this habitual? Would w2s work? If so what time should I do it?

I suppose it's possible that it's becoming habitual but I really doubt it.  It sounds like he's waking because his swaddle is in his way.  Have you considered swaddling him with his arms out?  Both my boys used to wake around the same time each night and then they just stopped.  Do you do a dream feed?

Yes we dream feed at 10.30. I've tried to swaddle with arms out and just 1 arm out but he wouldn't settle. He is back to sleep straight away when I reswaddle him with arms in.

I don't think it's habitual either. You could try double swaddling with 2 lighter blankets to see if that keeps him from wiggling out.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a go if I can find something suitable.

You could also just put your LO in a diaper shirt and then double swaddle with whatever you use regularly.
