Title: How/when to drop nap 3.5 year old.
Post by: Clairehv on March 13, 2016, 13:38:56 pm
Hi
DD is 3.5 (almost) and has always had higher than average day sleep needs.

She currently still has a nap everyday. At childcare she happily goes onto her ready bed and the childminder wakes up after 45 mins
For us she will nap in her bed or in car depending on what we are doing.

She typically wakes 6.30/7am. Although this has been getting earlier.
Naps 12.45-1.30 ish
And bedtime is 7 and she is typically asleep with minimal fuss by 7.10/15.

We have had a few days where she hasn't napped I.e at friends and too much going on and we end up with either her falling asleep after 4pm If we are travelling somewhere or we get the mother of meltdowns either at around 4pm or at bedtime.

As most of her peers have dropped daily naps and maybe have 2-4 a week I  am wondering do we just keep going with them as long as she is happy to nap or do I need to try and push her through the day?

Thanks. X x

How early are the ew? To me that would be the deciding factor as to dropping the nap. If everything is going well then I would run with it until either you get lots of ew's or bedtime resistance.

Hi we have had a few nights of complete messing around.
I am not sure if it is due to the nap, or that she knows we are going on holiday or that we are expecting a baby.
It's hard to know isn't it.
Today she had a 1 hour nap and messed about until 7.45pm.
I think we should probably get through the holiday and then see what the situation is.
I just cannot see how we get through the day without it at the moment!!!

Xx

Would she do a really short catnap? Or is she a bear to wake?
