My son is 5mo and since I've started offering solids a week ago or so he lost interest in bottles. He takes probably 20ml-30ml in one ago and then only screaming when I give it again to him. He takes well 2 bottles during the night as usual though.
I know that formula should be still his primary food but it's not possible right now.
his solids are: baby rice with formula, fruit and veggie puree, home-made cottage cheese, banana. Planning to start plain greek yogurt.
are there any options? I'm thinking to give him a bottle while he's napping, is that a good idea?
thank you

Hi there, he may just be full from the food as that quite a lot for his age. I’d cut back the food a little and see if interest comes back. Really at this age 1 small solid taste is all that’s needed.
Are you doing bottle first then food after? How is he with a cup, put some formula in there. I used to make all milky food with formula in xx

Thank you for stopping by here :)
Yes, I try formula first. He is obviously hungry but doesn't take bottle.
Bought another formula today and will start keeping the log.

Decided to eliminate solids completely today.

6.30 or so - wake up
6.45 - 60ml
Offered an hour later, no luck
8.32 - sleep
8.57 - wake up, couldn't extend the nap
9.40 - 30ml
10.15 - 30ml
10.50 - sleep
11.10 - wake up
12.35 - 90ml
12.55 - sleep
1.25 - wake up
1.45 - sleep
3.20 - wake up
4 - 70ml
5 - sleep
5.25 - wake up
7 - 100ml
7.15 - 20ml
7.30 - 40ml
7.40 - sleep
What do you think? What could I change? Any advice appreciated.
Thank you!

What about teat size? Could be too slow x

More wake ups than usual. And a couple of weeks ago his feedings were somewhere around 12-1am and 3-4am.

Holding him in arms, hoping to make him eat more formula :(
Yes, I give him some teething drops as a pain relief from time to time. Tomorrow I will track them as well giving before feeding.

When I was feeding him solids I had to be fast enough to fill a next spoon with the food - he liked so much. But it doesn't happen with formula anymore. He looks hungry but drinks a bit and then refuses the bottle

Hi there
Honestly I am not great with bottle feeding support as my DS didn't really like milk at all so I didn't experience "normal" but I stopped by because it looks like you might still be aiming for 3hrly milk feeds. Many LOs move to 4hr E at 4 months (some it may be 3.5hr E) and I just wonder if it's possible that your LO might eat better if you waited a little longer, so rather than doing an E at 3hr and trying again 30 min later you just waited a bit and offered at 3.5-4hr instead? I'm not suggesting you withhold food if he is crying for it but rather than if he isn't interested he might do better on a longer E time.
In your last EASY it looks like he did okay on 3hr in the morning but 4hr might have been better later on - maybe try that a few days??
It's not necessary to feed your LO after waking from a nap unless it is either E time or he is crying for food, some of your E times are quite short and that could be why he doesn't want to eat (eg that E at 4.35pm it had only been less than 2 hrs since previous E).
What is he like when he sees solid food around him, like when you are eating? Is he screaming for it or not bothered?
-
I offered him a bottle at 4.35 because he looked hungry. Otherwise I try to have 3h intervals if he had short naps and at least 3.5 but close to 4h if it was a long one. I will try to extend from 3h to 3.5h tomorrow.
He's following with his eyes if we eat or drink and if I give something to him he opens his mouth.

If he's just watching I'd probably hold off on solids for a couple of weeks. That gives you a chance to get the milk properly established again. He doesn't need solids yet, but I know some LOs (mine) scream blue murder if they see food and aren't given any, I only held out to 5.5 months after a month of hiding to eat I gave in.

I agree with Creations - you need to keep a longer interval between feeds. He's snacking a bit really, taking small feeds then being fed again too son at times. I know it's worrying when they only take a little feed, but try and keep to as near 4 hours as yo can unless he's really desperate for food no matter how much he takes.

Thank you all!
I will try to keep to 4h in the next couple of days.
He was never really crying for food, so I wouldn't expect that.
He took 90ml and 120ml last night and wasn't interested in the morning bottle. But I clearly see 2 little bumps on his lower gum so it may affect his appetite as well.
