I just posted this message under the breastfeeding topic but it's more of a weaning topic I think:
Has anyone gone cold turkey with stopping nightfeeds (for breastfed babies) and if so did it work?
-
I don't know if this qualifies as going cold turkey, but I"ll share anyway. On one evening my son went 7 hours without a feed, from 11pm till 6am. From the next night on, I stopped feeding him at night, I figured that since he'd shown me that he could make it through the night without a feed then I shouldn't give him one. If he woke up, I'd sing or pat and usually he'd go back to sleep after a bit of crying.
It's been 3 weeks, and we don't do a feeding before 6am. So, I guess it worked.
-
Is he sleeping through?
-
Sometimes he sleeps through. Sometimes he doesn't.
For the past few weeks we've been dealing with developmental related waking - he's just learnt to crawl (backwards lol) and is rolling all over the place.
The waking is dying down though, and I've only had to pat/sing once or twice a night from 8pm till 6/7am. He's slept through a couple of times - boy that was BLISS.

Yes those rare nights of sleeping through are fantastic! Although I stil woke two hourly thinking "mmmm this is a new concept ... sleep! maybe I should wake Andrew (husband) to tell him that Finn is still asleep" I didn't!!!
