Title: Water - quantity? for 6 mnth drinks 8 ounce milk 1 refluxer?
Post by: Debonair on August 14, 2005, 09:47:20 am
Hi

My DS is a 6 month old refluxer who has refused bottles since 8 weeks and didn't get diagnosed with allergy to cows milk untill 17 weeks and has been tube fed for the last 10 weeks. We have just had the tube removed as he is doing so well (touch wood) with his solids 3 meals a day with 2 deserts. We can only seem to get about 8 ounces of formula into him a day the doctor said ok but make sure he's getting his water, I was wondering how much do other babies drink of water that haven't had theese problems and if anyone has had theese problems? how much fluid does a baby need a day ??  Thanks

So  :D  the tube is out now and we can have some normality I just don't want to get anxious over the dehydration.

I would check with your ped on this one.

My ped didn't want me giving water until a year old, unless it was a really hot day, and then just a sip.  He wanted all of the fluid my ds got from his formula.

Since you've had such a rough time with your lo, I would definately get specifics from the ped!

Hhhmmm.... our paediatrician said sips of water are okay at meals. dd takes maybe 3-4oz/day... she's also a refluxer but still gets 24oz of formula as well. I agree with Tonya on this. Given the circumstances I would ask your doctor how much is okay.

Good luck to you and keep us posted!
