Title: How many food is enough?
Post by: sofianavas on September 21, 2005, 16:54:33 pm
Hi friends,
My lo is nine months this september 27th and he has been eating quiet good his solids and also bottle.
We went to the doctor and he said that he needed mor weight, that he was not in a good wight for his age. So I am afraid what else can I do as with more bottle, he just throw up when he is really full.

I am a little worried about this so I would like your opinion.

Bye,

Sofia

Hello, I would say that if your lo is consistently gaining weight and seems content after feedings and is sleeping well then he is probably fine.  All babies are different, some just bigger than others.  I also think you have to take into account the size of their parents.  My dh and I are bigger boned and Lindsey is pretty good sized.  Our friends who have a baby 2 weeks younger are smaller built and their lo is smaller but also healthy.

Like Lynne said, babies come in all shapes and sizes, and so much of it is out of our control. The best thing you can do is make sure he eats healthy, nutritious food to make his calories count. Some foods are rich in healthy fats, like avocado, egg yolk, cheese, meat, and full fat yogurt. These are all okay for your baby to eat now. After his first birthday, he can start eating peanut butter and whole milk, two more good foods.

My DS has always been tall and skinny and probably always will be, since that's how DH and I are built. That's just the way he is!

Hi friends,

Thank you very much for your help. About the egg, my baby is already 11 months, is it able that he can eat this? The pediatrician says to wait until hi has 1 year.
Also I began giving him soy milk and it has been really good! He is also having a good soup plate at noon and in the evening.
But now he must get accustomed to more solid food as sometimes he chokes and then throw up all the food he ate before and I feel sooo frustrated.

Bye,

Sofia

You can feed your baby egg yolks now, but I'd wait until your baby is 1 yr old to offer the whole egg, like your doctor said.
