Title: question anout milk in recipes
Post by: jennc123 on November 15, 2005, 18:13:58 pm
alot of recipes I see call for milk, do they mean milk or babymilk like formula or breastmilk??? and why can they have cheese, cottage cheese, eggs but no other dairy foods? also when can they have the white of the egg?  I have been reading a baby cookbook and this all confuses me. Thanks!

Here in the UK, normal milk is OK in cooking eg custards / cheese sauces.

I used to make cheese sauce with formula until I realised it was OK to use whole milk in cooking.   I introduced cheese / cottage cheese / yoghurt from about 7 months if memory serves me correctly.

Egg whites - from one year.

I think the reason why things are cautious when talking about using whole milk is that it is not intended to replace bf / formula as a drink and nutrition.
