Title: DS won't sit and eat his meal
Post by: sa on November 15, 2005, 20:02:20 pm
DS is 9.5 month and very active. will not stop for 1 minute during his A time.

so sitting at the highchair to eat his meal is really boring for him. he will not sit to eat his whole meal, usually after less than 10 spoonful, he will start to wipe his face .. yell ... so he can get out of his chair.

not sure if it's the food that bored him ... or it's just that he doesn't want to sit. when he is out of his chair, he will open his mouth and eat the rest of his meal (well ...... some leftover most of the time).  i am chasing after him to feed him !! this is something i really hate to do, worried i am creating bad habit.

i tried finger food, give him the spoon, toys ...etc.  this will only distract him for a minute or less.

shall i insist him to stay in the chair? or let him play a little then back to the chair may be?

Hi, my 7 month old went thru the same thing about 2-3 weeks ago. I've just gone a bit with what he wanted - anything to get him to eat - and also me being persistent with keeping him in the h/chair. I always start him in there, but when he starts grizzling take him out so he doesn't associate the h/chair with getting upset. He's now a lot better after a few weeks of feeding on the floor, bench, outside etc.

Also, I've tried to keep him entertained by placing the chair in different rooms, infront of photos on the fridge, feeding the cats at the same time so he can watch them etc.
