Me again..the B.W suggests no urgency until 18mth-24mths but friends/health visitors say we should start now (13mths) ?
So whenever we do it, has anyone suggestions on how to do it. All 3 bottles in one go or gentle weaning off ?
Much appreciate a chat on this guys..cheers :?

Err, I just bought my 12 week old a cup. It says 3 months plus and it is just a basic soft spout beaker from Boots. DS had a cup from 5 1/2 months (Avent magic cup) when I was preparing to return to work. It looks like DD won't be having bottles.
So, I'm defintely no expert but I'd say, give it a try but don't worry about it otherwise your LO will pick up on your stress and not cooperate  . Just pick a cup, and make it fun. They'll be wanting a 'grown-up cup' soon (20 months for DS) and refusing the non-spill variety  .

hello. I would say just try and see how it goes! I was surprised how quickly my DD took to a cup - I never gave bottles, so just moved straight to a cup. If he likes it just do it :) If not maybe wean more slowly.
On a similar yet different note - how much milk should I be giving - only breastfeeding means I haven't a clue! And are you giving cows milk or formula still?
Thanks - and hope it goes well!

My child health nurse also said get dd onto a cup as soon as she will take it. Well, I'm still trying and dd is 12 months! She will take water from a sippy cup but not milk and when I give her a drink in a regular cup, most of it ends up down her top!
I think once I can get her drinking from a cup, I will start eliminating the morning and lunchtime bottle and leave the night bottle in place for a while.
I don't know if this is the right way to do it but I thought it sounded pretty reasonable.
