Title: Time Between Feedings
Post by: rjr on February 22, 2006, 22:09:18 pm
Hello:

My son is just about 2.5 months old and just started on EASY - seems to be doing well.  My question is about timing between feeds.  When the BW suggests a 3 hour window between feeds for this age, does the 3 hour timing start when the feed starts or when it ends?

Although he's a big boy for his age (14lbs, 10 oz), he doesn't seem to quite last 3 hours from the end of the last feeding to the beginning of the next - although he does sleep well and seems content.

Thank you in advance for your replies!
 :)

The 3 hour window starts with beginning of a feed.

Easy starts from the begining of the feed. Dont be too concerned if your LO isnt going exactly 3hourly my LO didnt manage to until he was about 14weeks. Most BF babies seem to take a little longer getting to 3 then to 4 hour easy, I think it is beacause BM is eaisier to digest than formula. Dont get too obssesed about making him go 3hours as he'll do it in his own time and easy is a guideline not a time schedule.

It sounds to me like your doing a great job, keep up the good work!!!  :)
