Title: Swapping to Real Milk
Post by: RosieMum on March 31, 2006, 15:14:05 pm
When did you actually start to feed cows/goats/soya milk? In the UK our Health Visitors adivise that we should start no earlier than 12 months, but I wondered when you actually started? xx

I replaced my ds's morning bottle with whole milk for a week to make sure he didn't have any reaction.  Then when he didn't, I switched half of his bottles to milk, and the other half to formula, as he was getting used to drinking the milk.  Then we just used up the formula and switched everything to milk around 13 months.

we made the switch at 12 months as like you say , this is what the h/v suggests. a friend of mine switched at 10 months because as a family they were struggling financially and couldn't afford the formula . she followed the same method as the previous poster . Her son was fine .

we switched yesterday, two days shy of his first birthday.  formula ran out, so just gave him milk instead.  he didn't notice a thing!
