Title: How much solids is too much at 9.5mos?
Post by: mstormin on April 10, 2006, 14:24:17 pm
DS is 9.5 mos and is BF.  My ped said that I should go ahead and feed him as much as he wants to eat at his scheduled feedings (3x's a day).  Does this sound right?  This morning I gave him some oatmeal, a 6oz jar of food a few cheerios-- and he probably could have kept going!
I just worry that he's not going to take enough BF from me...

I'm probably worrying for nothing, but wondered what others were doing.  Do you regulate how much food your LO eats?  Or just feed until they are full?

mstormin,
I make sure I bf first and then wait 1-1.5 hours later to feed solids, and I give dd as much as she will eat.  How many bfs are you giving?

Thanks for your response!

I usually do the same.  I BF and then about 1/2-1hr later I feed solids.  He BF's 4x's a day.
Do you know when I should go to 3x's a day?  He's pretty uninterested in BFing... :P

Thanks!
Mary

At this age you could probably drop to 3 B/F's. I agree feed as much as your little will take and if you are worried he won't breastfeed then do the breastfeed first.
