Title: Going off Formula as they get older
Post by: *Natasha* on May 05, 2006, 04:38:45 am
Has anyone found their babies are getting fussier with their formula as they get older?
My DD has never been a big fan but i am finding she is getting fussier and fussier as the day goes on  >:(

Definitely!  But I have always struggled to get DS to drink any milk!  We are now sometimes scraping as little as 11oz a day! (DS is only 7 months, so not sure what we will do if this keeps decreasing?!).  You can't force them to take it, and there is a limit to how much you can put in their food!

Not sure if you can get a milk with higher levels of vitamins in, so what they do take is more concentrated?

Ewan was like that.  Once we started on the solid food he really wasn't all that interested in his bottles.   When I asked the ped about he suggested that I give him two servings of cereal a day to make up for it.  Seemed to work fine as he is healthy and happy ;D

I've noticed this as well, she's losing interest every day, much happier eating solids. I just try to mix her cereal with her milk as much as I can to make up for it.

Oh boy , YES

I now have Phoebe on 50% formula and 50%cows for morning milk and 100% formula at night, getting ready for the ens of formula. She perfers the 50/50 split.
She has always been on the min threshold of milk intake.

I make smoothies if she is having a bad day.

Natasha,

As you know with us - some days are better than others.

Well today I did not know what was bothering DS - he is cutting a tooth at the moment.  He was really ratty about an hour after lunch, I gave him some teething gel and that helped for all of 5 minutes - anyway, he was getting fussier and fussier, so I just decided to offer him a bottle - this was an hour and a half earlier than he usually takes his bottle, and made up an 8 oz bottle, and he drained it - guess I can put that down to a growth spurt - but to be honest I could not believe my eyes, as he has never been very fussy on his PM bottle.

I tell you these kids are sent to amaze us.

I'm glad I spotted this as exactly the same is happening here too..

Thanks for the reassurance that this is yet another "normal" thing that we go through in this amazing mommyhood journey.
