Post by: bangkok mum on May 15, 2006, 11:08:01 am
Hi

I am expressing one bottle of milk for my 3 week old a day.  but i am not sure how much she should be having.  I am aiming for about 3oz is this enough?  any recommendations appreciated.

It's hard to say, each lo is different.  I didn't offer a bottle until later so I'm not sure how much little ones take that early on.  I would think 4 would be definately enough, but 3 is likely good.  If you are going to be there, you can offer the 3oz and if she needs more, nurse her.

3oz sounds like a good amount.  Watch her cues after she eats and see if she is still hungry.  Another good indicator is how long she can last until the next feed.

Hope this helps!
