Just in the last week or so I have been falling asleep while I have been nursing. Needless to say I have been nursing where my son is safe if this happens. Usually I wake up and baby is asleep too so I don't know how long he has been at the breast. I am confused about this because it new to me. Didn't happen last time with older son, why is it happening now?

Hi PineMum, yes I would say it is fairly normal - it happened to me too. I have a feeling Tracey says something about it in the first BW book (don't have it to hand, so can't find the relevant bit). Apparently something is secreted in your body while your breasts are being stimulated by the suckling which can make you drowsy.
Do you have the BW babies book? I'll try and find the right bit and PM it to you...

Had MAJOR trouble staying awake some times, esp at night. Would doze off with the babe :)

yep. did this all the time with DD!!

He's 10 mo and I still doze sometimes- its just so relaxing!

i would say that that has probably happened to all of us..Tracy says its the oxytocin that ur body produces during feeding that makes u fall asleep as jbepko says it is very relaxing

Some of the best sleep I got was whilst bf!

Although I do it less frequently, I still find myself dozing at almost 10 months.

Very interesting that there is an actual reason for this.
I had insomnia and could not sleep when dd slept but as soon as I started to bf in the night, I would finally get to sleep.
I think I started relying on this to get myself to sleep!
