Title: now eating too much

I know I shouldnt complain as we have went through and extreme dry spell, but Gage is consuming alarming amounts of food. I think it is a growth spurt or connected to his new mobility. Anyway, he is consuming 25-32 oz of formula and 10-14 oz of solids. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. I am nervous as Gage has vomited 2 or 3 times from overeating. I do curb his amounts but I am unsure of how much. My ped. said not to exceed 32 oz of formula. Can anyone confim this?

we are advised 20oz maximum once they are onto 3 meals a day so that they concentrate on their meals and not the bottles.  I have had to curb the bottles because Rachel will take them and then be sick and so we now just do 2 bottles a day and I control the meals and we have 2 small fruit snacks as well if she is really active

of course it could easily just be the 9 month growth spurt

From what I've seen, most resources recommend 32 oz max at that age. Sounds like you've got a hungry guy!

Oh my word.. 20oz? My bub would never make it. I dont know that I can get anymore solids in him. He tops out at 2-3oz in  the morning and 6oz for the other 2 meals. Is that pretty common? I have started offering meals first then bottle later. I would like to get snacks going but fingers foods are not even close to being established, so I am unsure as to what to offer as a snack vs a meal. Any ideas ladies?

For safe finger foods, we offer teething or biter biscuits are good cuz they turn to mush and the Gerber stars seem to be a hit with everyone's LO.  My DD ate 1/2 cup one day.  I couldn't give them to her fast enough!  I think she would eat them til she burst.  They dissolve so quickly.  My DD also eats graham crackers, cheerios, small dices of fruits and veggies (daycare steams the heck out of them and I buy the Gerber graduate jars and pinch them into smaller pieces).  Or we'll just pinch fresh soft fruit into smaller pieces.  I think daycare gives her chex-type cereals as well (they call it "trail mix").  I do have to be more careful now, cuz she's shoving bigger and bigger things in her mouth (she used to just gum the graham crackers to mush - now she'll break off bigger chunks.)

You might try Yo-Baby Yogurt and some softer cheeses since Gage is 9MO (for some reason cheese scares me...) to get some protein into him and see if he's more satisfied.  And another mom on another thread recommended Gerber's meat sticks.  (I saw them in the store and they looked awful - but doesn't all baby food.)  My DD is stil young for them, but I guess they have a skin like a sausage and you can peel it off and then pinch it into small pieces very easily.  I think it's highly processed so it's very mushy.  Or if you cook, I think some moms blend meat/chicken/fish to manageable bites.

Hi Casey! It is nice to hear from you. How are things?

Gage just doesnt want to put anything in his mouth. I give him Gerber stars at every meal and he just plays with them. ::) As a result, I am having a hard time finding snacks, and I am afraid as any type of "meal" snack (yogurt, cereal etc.,) would ruin his next meal. I dont know, what do you think?

Im not sure but maybe you could limit the amount (like 1/2 a yogurt versus the whole carton?).  Also, some have introduced tofu (don't have a clue on that one) and I give Katie some small curd cottage cheese.  It can be a finger food, but I also spoon it in.  I keep thinking that a bit more protein and calories will help keep her satisfied.
