Does anyone know if you can freeze left over jarred baby food? I am making food for my lo but he finds the taste of the peas and green beans a little strong. I've found if I mix a little jarred peas or beans in with the "fresh" I've made that it must cut the sharpness of the taste for him because he then gobbles it up! I only use a little, though so there is no way I come even close to working through a jar within the three days the info says you can keep it for before discarding. If I could freeze small portions of the jarred food in ice cube trays like I do the food I make it would be perfect!

You can freeze it as long as it's not contaminated. Meaning, remove the portion that you want with a clean spoon that hasn't been in LOs mouth, and then package it up into small portions and freeze. Don't feed him from the jar re-dipping the spoon and then package and freeze.

Thanks, I figured you probably could! Someone checked on the Beechnut website and it says not to but I can't really see a reason why you couldn't as long as, as you said, it isn't contaminated. I never dip a spoon in except with a clean one to put what I am serving into another dish from my lo. Think I'll freeze some teaspoons of a jar in the bottom of ice cube trays to have just a little to add to my fresh baby food. I'll post after I've done it to say whether it worked out ok or not. The only think I can think of is that the consistency may go more watery after it's thawed.

Yeah, you're probably right about the consistency after thawing, but it's easy to thicken stuff up again.

Yep, I usually use a little bit of brown rice cereal to thicken his food when needed but if I'm just going to serve that little bit of jarred food with a homemade cube, it should be thickened enough just with that!
