Title: Should I wake him for a dreamfeed?
Post by: owensmommy on September 28, 2006, 14:53:55 pm
Hi there,

My lo is 3.5 months old and he goes to bed at 7:30pm.  He wakes routinely at 10:30pm for a feeding, then wakes again at 3:30pm for a second feeding.  Usually he gets fussy in the early hours, waking at 5:30 and 6:30 before it's time to get up at 7am.

I was wondering what the benefit would be of trying a dreamfeed at 10pm.  He's a spirited/touchy baby and is exclusively breastfed.  Should I try a dreamfeed or just stick with his routine?

You could try feeding him at 10pm, you never know...it may work.

If i remember correctly when Theo got into the habit of waking at 10:30pm for his df i brought it forward to break the habit, It worked for us.

Good luck.

I did 'wake' Laura for her df - mostly so I could go ahead and go to bed ;)

I would go into her nursery, gently pick her up and change her diaper.  By the time she was rousing from this, I had her on the breast and she was happy sucking away.  She would always eat but be very peaceful and eyes closed.  When she was done, I would put her back down and she would just snooze away.  She usually woke up around 2:30/3am for a middle of the night feeding.  I always used night-light light for these visits so that there was minimal stimulation for her.

Hope this helps!
