Title: Could he be hungry?
Post by: Intransit on November 11, 2006, 23:44:11 pm
Just wanted to run this by you all..to get some input.
My son is almost 18 months old, and for the past few weeks, he has been waking up during the night 1-3 time. he doesn't really wake up fully so to speak, but he cries out, and maybe stands, and then right back down for another hour or so.
I wonder though if it could be related to being hungry....
His last meal is @ 530-6pm, and then he has about 7 ounces of milk at 7-730---and down @ 8.
I wonder if maybe he needs a solid snack between 6-8?
Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Does he go right back to sleep without you going in??  If so, than I would not worry about it.  We hear Tyler wake up a few times each night.  He will cry out for a few seconds and then right back to sleep.  Sometimes we hear him talking and playing but then falls back to sleep.

Also, it could be developmental...talking, climbing etc.

Your ds might be waking up hungry, but realizes it is still night and goes back to sleep.  What a good boy!!

Is he waking earlier than normal?

Thanks for the reply..
He woke up early Fri and Sat morning, almost 1.5 hours early Sat, and as a result had a sleep in this morning.
At night though, he wakes up, and sometimes we have to go in, and sometimes not.
I just thought that maybe he was having too little solids---and as a result wetting through his outfitt, and possibly being hungry...Ill keep an eye..and see what he tells me.
Thanks

Is he wetting through his diaper?  That could be waking him.  Maybe try the next size up in diapers during the overnight?

GOOD LUCK!

My ds is 12 months and has woken for a feed between 1 and 4am since he started crawling at 6mths. I have just started giving him a feed of porridge after his bath and before bed and hurray, at last he doesn't need to be fed overnight. Maybe you could try it too and see if it works.   :)

Hi there, thanks for the replies again!
I have started giving him a snack before bed..banana or something solid..and it seems to help....every night is different though! Not wetting anymore, which is a bonus!
