Title says it all...
Our daughter is 19 months old and is BORED silly.
We have a newborn who obviously requires quite a bit of attention so "entertaining" our 19-month-old is a little harder to do. She's got loads of books, toys...you name it, but isn't interested at all in playing with them. Today I had to chase her around our bedroom to get her out of every little thing.
Anyway, I was hoping someone might have some suggestions on activities that could be used to entertain a younger toddler. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Or...if anyone has a child who attends a playgroup or daycare, what kinds of things do they do with kids this age? I'm at a loss, I think.

I bought this book a while ago and it has some fun ideas in it:
http://www.amazon.com/Toddlers-Busy-Book-Trish-Kuffner/dp/0671317741/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b/103-1834320-2744662
If you click on the above link and do 'search inside' you can read the index and see lots of things to get you busy.
I would start by making your own playdough - there are various recipes on the net - and doing some cutting/shape making.

Ds is just a little older than your lo, but he's OBSESSED with the sink at the moment. He'll spend ages stood on a (secure) chair playing with plastic cups/spoons/containers/etc - anything unbreakable really. He loves to fill containers with water and pour the water out.
It can get a bit messy, but a few well-placed towels avert too much disaster ;) :).

Thank you for all of the great suggestions! I'm going to check out that book and try a few of your ideas. I'm sure she'll love them!
Any other ideas that require a little less supervision for those hard moments when I'm tending to dd#2? I know it will be tough for a while regardless, but I'd like an arsenal of fun activities that I can draw from when things are really complicated.
Thanks again!

Check out the toddler activities sticky at the top of the forum -- loads of ideas there! Ugh, and I hear you about needing #1 to be entertained while you're tending to #2, your two are very similary aged to mine. It's quite an adventure, isn't it? :)
