Title: Time to feed
Post by: SSM on January 12, 2007, 16:52:34 pm
I ma a little worried. By 10 week old used to take about 40-45 mins to feed, but today he has been feeding only for 10-15 mins. He refuses to remain at the breast after that, and starts crying if I try to latch him back on. Is he getting enough milk? Is he just getting more efficient at feeding? He is still passing stool after every feed, almost immediately after the feed and seems quite happy after that, though keep sucking his fingers

Babies do become more efficient suckers.  I wouldn't worry if your lo seems happy and does not seem to be wanting to eat more often than normal.  I was worried about this same thing when dd was about 6 weeks.  She would only nurse for 6 min.  I started letting her nurse fo the time she wanted and then offering the other breast.  Sometimes she would eat more and somtimes not.  Just watch your lo for cues.  If lo is gainng weight and eating at regular internvals then I would assume he's getting enough. Good Luck

Snap
I was also going to give you a link to the FAQ. Some babies seem to speed up overnight.
