Crikey! :o You'll have to get an extra bed for all of the toys! ;D ;D I thought that my dd had lots of 'friends' in her cot! She has her bear (which is her lovie that she cannot be without), a huge, very soft teddy bear, a dragon, a purple cat and a flat yellow bear. The collection is growing but soon there will be no room for her! When she goes to sleep she makes a very successful attempt at cuddling all of them, they surround her. She has always had a bit of an obsession with bears!
ds has his one Bear that he has had since he was 4months old, he could not sleep without it. He does have a huge snow leopard on the end of his bed, that he loves but as long as he has his Bear then he is happy.
Does your little one notice if any are missing? Perhaps you could cut back slowly?
We had a lion that has got bells on his neck that dd wanted in her bed but i put my foot down because it was too noisy, it sits on a chest at the end of the bed where she can see it and she seems happy with that. Maybe you could get a toy hammock and hang some of them above the bed?
-
Gosh that is al ot; mine has 2 teddies, a sock monkey, a knitted mouse and a little whale. All these live at the bottom of the bed and she plays with them when she wakes up. As for falling asleep she has a knitted monkey and cat and a plush bunny.

Great thread Sylvia! Aren't they just too funny with their "obsessions"? Noah has elaborate rituals with all his lovies and blankets and pillows. I'm not sure what he says to them since he always whispers as he sorts them all out (the ONLY time he ever whispers in fact! ::)). I've caught him "nursing" his bears before tucking them in, but the rest of the ritual is a mystery. He is big time into nest making and needs several specific blankets in order to do this. I've long ago given up on making his bed because he just has it all undone and then redone HIS way as soon as he sees I made it. Right now he has:
Thomas pillow
Sports pillow
Batman pillow
Knitted pillow (I used it under him when I nursed him as a baby)
Giraffe pillow
regular pillow
Big white bear
Little white bear
Grey cat
Ordinary Teddy bears 1,2 and 3
Large green snake
Parrot
Walrus
Small Beanie Bears dark green, light green, easter, and hearts
Big lamb
Little lamb
Fake Boobah (newer Boobah lovey which he is not fooled by)
HUGE elephant from IKEA (just got this one last week and it's a big hit)
A few cars/trucks
Bee blanket
knitted blanket (made by grandma)
blue fleece blanket
white striped fleece blanket
lizard sleeping bag
comforter
knitted lace blanket (from grammy)
and he MUST have:
Big Mama Brown bear
Baby Brown bear
Baby Beanie blue bears 1 and 2
and his absolute favourite since he was a year old- Boobah (Blue Bear- large "It's a Boy" Beanie Baby Bear)
He fits all this and himself in his double bed. Whatever works right? :)

Marisa has:
Teddy: medium sized pink bear she received when born but rediscovered about a month ago and is OBSESSED with
Blanket: Super soft blanket with different textures (we have a backup one too)
Bear: Super mushy purple/white bear
Dolly: small soft doll from Carter's
Lolly Dolly: similar to above by rattles
Those are a constant in the crib but teddy and blanket come wherever she might sleep and into the car at all times and sometimes teddy comes on outings. Also sometimes in her crib are a small stuffed cat and dog and she has a flutterby lullaby crib toy (similar the FP aquarium but with birds).
-
Um, what do you guys do when you travel? :o
-
Um, what do you guys do when you travel? :o
We just bring the last 5 "must haves" unless we have to travel light. Then it's just Boobah. Iknow in a pinch he can even manage without Boobah because he was snowed in unexpectedly at grandmas last month and had to sleep over without it. He just did a variation of his sleep rituals with HER teddy bear. ;) :)
-
oops, forgot one - sheepy! really soft stuffed sheep from Carter's. But for travel it's only blanket and teddy and/or dolly.
-
Whoops, forgot Ernie, he's in there as well.
Yes, she's still in her crib, like I said I've been trying to cut down a bit as there wasn't much room in there for her anymore.
When we travel, we just take bunny and a few favorites. She'll usually adopt a few friends from wherever we're going, if they have any to spare. :)
-
I also forgot Bunny, when we travel we bring Ted ted and one friend :-* :-*
When he sleeps at Mums he asks for a go of her Granny Ted ted :-*
-
Cute thread!!!
Favorite Doggy
Rompy Dog
Frog
Leapfrog Tad
2 stuffed lambs
Stuffed bear
pillow
3 pacifiers
:) :)
-
DD has in her bed :
Fifi, Violet, Bumble and Primrose teds.
Winnie The Pooh soft teddy
Very soft white Hugo Bear teddy
3 penguins (free with fabric softener)
Jumbo Dora The Explorer - this is right up against the bed so not in it BUT HAS to be there ::)
Also whatever book we were reading that night.....I have to go in when she is asleep and remove it
otherwise she wakes up with a horrible imprint on her face ::) :P
BTW DD NEVER used to sleep with anything in her bed.........it slowly started a few months ago.
-
Kellie LOL !!
I keep saying I should stop washing because every time I open a new box, H takes the penguin up to his bed !!
P.S> Amazing Avatar :-*
-

dd sometimes has her doll. Only if we happen to see her before bedtime though.
I love the new avatar too Kellie

Thanks guys...............DP and DS think the new avatar is funny as she looks very girlie for a change :P
-
Wow what size of beds do your lo have lol
Tom sleeps with just one Mr Woof Woof his fav dog it goes everywhere
-
I also forgot about his blanket(s) and his 5 (!!!) binkies. :)
-
Kellie - I LOVE the pink hat!!!! Do they do them in big people's sizes?!
DS has just turned one and he sleeps with his three doggies. He got the first the day he was born and it always slept in his crib, right from the word go. We go two more to cover the whole doggy-in-the-laundry thing but it turns out now he sleeps with all three. If he's asleep in his cot cuddling one and you try to move it from him, he growls at you (DS, not the toy dog obviously!) in his sleep.
He also then takes one down to daycare each day for nap time.
-
My DS sleeps with a NUNU...Not sure if you guys can get them...it's a small washcloth sized blankie that has a figure attached a the top...Buy them at Walmart...
and a CareBear Monkey....
and Lately it's a flannel sports blanket that he MUST have...He's plays with it between his fingers as he dozes off.
-
Awww, what a sweet thread :)
Ds has:
- Teddy (a 'proper' teddy bear that dp bought from the hospital shop when I was in labour). He's the most special ;), and is often to be found in ds's tight grasp when he's asleep
- Bear
- Doggie (a wierd thing - top half of a dog attached to a lovie-type blankie. Freaks me out - a dog with no lower half, but ds strokes the blankie bit as he falls asleep)
- a blanket (not for warmth, but for 'in' ;) - he likes to snuggle in, and hide under it
- however many dummies we can gather before bed ::)
-
wow, you lo's sleep with heaps as well, i think it is actually starting to become a problem for us, dd can't always find what she wants in the middle of the night and call out for me to get it, anyone have this probem also?
-
Travelling essentials:
'Big Teddy'
'Little Teddy'
'Pippin' (a dog beanie)
At home:
rabbit
froggie
another froggies
badger
kangeroo
dinosaur (a finger puppet thankfully)
On occasion we've also had a hat, hard plastic farm animals (but now we've had the chat about soft things only)
And the worst - toys that make a noise when you roll over on them. Currently have a red furry thing that laughs manically which luckily hasn't been rolled on yet.
It's all a hassle but there's nothing cuter than seeing him 'put them all to bed'.
His last words tonight - 'mummy, pippin is licking my nose. He's my pet'
Bless.
-
'Phant, a small pink elephant that she has had since the NICU. (We have 3 of them.)
Chris Mouse
Purple and white panda.
On the other end of the crib:
Pooh.
Stuffed mouse from Wacky Bear.
Multi-coloured monster from Wacky Bear.
Pink Panther hanging over the edge of the rail.
Crib aquarium , turns it on herself if she wakes at night.
Travelwise, 'Phant comes on trips, there is also one at daycare.
After all sleeps, she picks up 'Phant and Chris mouse and brings them to the living room. Then dumps them. ::) At nap/bedtime, we tell her to "get her guys". She grabs them, toddles off to her room, and generally goes happily into her crib. 8)
-
Kellie - I LOVE the pink hat!!!! Do they do them in big people's sizes?!
LOL not unless you shop at Mothercare!
I have seen grown ups wearing them around though so they must be out there ;D
-
guess what we did tonight, i kick the gang out, i left her thumper, dogie and pinkie, she call out once and ask for her baby doll, i gave in to this as i think she is kind of really special, she went down tonight with heaps less fuss
-
OMG. No way can they sleep with that much - tell me what I can do to avoid this!!!
Zara sleeps with "frankie" a green blankie with a satin back and a frog head and arms coming out. She has slept with this since 3 months old (she has 3 and I wash them every time I wash her sheets, so they are all washed very regularly). Frankie = frog + blankie. She loves Frankie, he can stop her crying in most situations. I have started her sleeping with Nancy, a ragdoll that her Nana made her, so that she will learn to love that too....she only got that for Xmas. Nancy = Fancy doll that + Nana made LOL. Nancy is the kind of ragdoll designed to be dragged around by her hair ;D
-
rina avoid my mistake
-
But I don't understand how that started? What should I be watching out for?
-
i was thinking that it would make sleep easier, she just wanted them in bed, it just seemed like fun,
-
Katie puts them in her bed herself and then gets very upset when you take them out.
-
I'd have to say it's really not a problem for Noah. Maybe it's an age thing, but he LIKES having all that stuff in his bed, he doesn't NEED it all (just maybe Big brown mama bear and of course Boobah ;)). When he was younger it might've mattered more, but now it's just part of his independent winddown, but I know now he can do it without any of it in a pinch.
-
For several months Annabel only slept with "Ba" (Carter's stuffed lamb), then added "Sagwa" (stuffed cat) about a month ago. Within the last couple weeks, she also added "Pit-E" (stuffed mouse) and "Draf" (tiny stuffed giraffe). She also carries them through the house with her all day... quite an armful. I thought four was a lot, but after reading this post I'm reconsidering! :o

Jenn !!!
harry says "I will get my lads " when he is going for quiet time / bedtime :-*
-
I will get my lads
That's so funny, Nathan used to call his little beaney Winnie the pooh characters 'his boys'!!!
Alex sleeps with, Winnie the pooh, tigger, Nathy's lumpy, piglet (oinkoink!, can't say piglet!) eeyore, rabbit, pinkteddy, bigteddy, big sophie and little sophie (dolls) and today she had a new minnie mouse who had to join the bedroom gang. I try to take one out every now and then but she knows and won't sleep without any of them. I move them all to the bottom when she drops off, bt if one falls out during the night, she shouts to me in the morning to let me know and one night, I went in at 2am as she was crying and I said 'ssshh' and she was still laying down, unde the blankets, but said, 'mum, eeyore, down there' and there was eeyore, laying on the floor near the bottom of the cot!!! wierd, how the heck did she know?
-
last night charley only slept with thumper, dogie, pinkie and her baby doll
-
Jenn !!!
harry says "I will get my lads " when he is going for quiet time / bedtime :-*
For Noah it's, "I'll get my babies."
-
:-* I love when they say things like that ! And he is very precise on who is a 'lad' and who isn't. Buzz Lightyear not a lad ...
We were tyding H's room yesterday and he added some more in, they are at the foot of the bed so I think its ok.
-
Anna sleeps with 1-3 giraffes , known as gemma and the baby gemma twins! We did have issues with her losing items in the night and callin out to us , so we got her a kiddie torch and now she looks for and finds them herself!! Much more preferable!
Nathan has 3 tigers that are the same but only sleeps with one, then there is one for nursery and then 1 in the wash usually!
Clare
Mum to Anna 3yrs and Nathan 17 months
