Title: What did I do?

Lily has a nasty cold. She slept through last night so went from about 7pm until 8:30am without nursing (doesn't happen very often!). When she got up this am, she latched on the first side and tried to nurse but couldn't because her nose is so stuffy she can't breath and nurse at the same time. She came off and said, "All done." I decided to give her her medicine and suck out her nose. I put saline drops in her nose, which made her scream as she HATES them. I gave her her medicine, which made her scream as she HATES it. I sucked out her nose, which made her scream as she HATES it. I held her for a little while to calm her down and then tried to get her to nurse again. She kept saying, "No, no, no, no, no" and when I closed my bra she said, "All done".

I couldn't get her to nurse for anything - not in her bedroom, not in the living room, not on either side, nothing. I it just because she can't breath or did everything I did make her not want to nurse? Will she go back to nursing or are we "all done"? I'm not ready to be all done!!  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Oh Sarah, I would think it is just her stuffy nose. Don't give up trying.  How often is she feeding usually?  (((HUGS))) :-*

She'll probably want to again as her cold gets better. Even if she was annoyed and that was why she didn't want to nurse, it shouldn't mean she doesn't want it at all anymore. Colds can make things funny though, my DD hardly eats at all when she has a cold.

It was just the one feed. She normally nurses 3-4 times per day, depending on whether she wakes to nurse during the night.

She had eggs for breakfast, which are her favorite. She LOVES eggs! She ate just about 3-4 bites so I know she's not feeling well. Normally they'd be gone before we even set the plate down. This girl can EAT! ;)

Wish us luck for the rest of the day. I was planning to sell my breast pump but if she keeps refusing to nurse, I'm going to have to pump so I'm not in pain.

Things are better. Thanks for thinking of us!! She started nursing again without issue later that day. Yay! I'm so glad we're not done. I wasn't ready! :)

yay! good news! I'm really pleased for you. my DD stopped at 9.5 mo and never took it again :'( so I know the feeling of not being ready and am so pleased you didn't have to go through that.

Glad shes back on!!

Shelby did this when she was poorly, before she'd even started solids. I was literally crapping myself that she'd done, she did a full 24 hours with no boobie!!
