Title: Possible attention seeking - how do deal with it?
Post by: emz1907 on July 12, 2008, 07:58:54 am
My lo has woke early (between 4-5am :() for about 4 months now, but he has always been happy when he wakes and babbles and plays until I come and get him at around 6am. BUt over the last week he is now really whiney and crying as soon as he wakes up, he has never been able to settle back off to sleep no matter what I do (feeding, nappy change, rocking, shh/patt etc) but as he wasn't crying it hasn't been a problem. BUt now I think as he is getting older he is starting to realise that crying gets me there quicker. I am assuming its attention seeking as he stops as soon as I go in the room and crys as I leave again. How do I approach this? His cry is loud but isn't quite the same as a 'I need you now' cry, more of a fustrated/annoyed cry. This morning I did leave him be for a while but as it was 4.30am I was very concious of the noise for the neighbours :-[ We live in a terraced flat so there are neighbours downstairs and on either side. I finally got up with him at 5.40am and he was immediatley fine. I just don't want to encourage him to do it by always running when he crys out, but also don;t want to leave him crying and wining loudly at that ungodly time of the morning :-\
