Title: Slight rashy look on face
Post by: hrk on September 08, 2008, 12:37:32 pm
Hi,
Our lo is 10 mo old.  He has had this tiny/bumpy, sometimes light pink/other times not rashy looking bit on his cheeks.  Bumps sometimes will eventually result in a tiny flake of skin.  Has had this for a month.  Dr. thought baby acne?  Seemed a little unsure.  It seems to be faded in the morning, a bit more bumpy during the day.

Wondering if it could be an allergy?  We had him tested for soy, milk, and some other things.  He has it in the avatar, but as you can see it is not so visible.  Anything to worry about?

Thanks in advance!
Jean

Does it look like goose bumps ? Ryan has this on both cheeks and his arms and legs and he has KP (keratosis pilarosis ) The cheeks redden when outside in the cold which makes it look worse .I think there is a sticky thread that describes this in the health forum . I can see why it may look like acne because the pimples do sometimes have white dots on but it's just dry skin .here's the link

Did the results come back yet for the tests?  I know tests cannot be fully accurate sometimes.  When my son has something he is allergic/intolerant to little red bumps will form on his cheeks, then eventually will worsen and become dry, flaky, and when it gets really bad it oozes.  What my son has is eczema, one of the reactions he'll get when he has any milk, soy, wheat, eggs, oats, barley, etc.  Even in the tiniest amounts.

To rule it out has he had any new foods in the last month?  Like bread or eggs, anything?  Or has he been around any new pets?

Thanks for the posts!  All tests came back negative.  Tested for pears, apples, too.  It was early on when he was just starting solids, had this rash showing up on chest, also had terrible gas and we switched to alimentum.  So, the pedi/we were concerned about allergies.  My brother had a lot of them when little.

The bumps stay tiny, like the goosebumps mentioned.  They dont get bigger.  He has been trying new foods, including pasta and bread.  Started to think it could be that.  I will check out the link.  Seems like that could be it!

I will be back :-)

Hi and thanks.  It definately sounds like it could be keratosis pilarus.  I posted over there, too.  A trip back to the dr in order?  Seems I should actually figure it out for sure.  Sounds like it may not go away; he will love this when he is older, eh?

Hey Jean:  I posted to the other thread.

I have read that wheat and milk can make Kp worse.  If you have just started breads and pasta, then there deft. could be a connection.
