Title: Pale stool, pain when moving bowels
Post by: Eden&Connor'sMom on April 01, 2009, 00:35:18 am
My DS is 1 year old and is MSPI.  We've tried to put a little bit of dairy back into his diet, as he should eventually outgrow the intolerances (I hope!).  Well, as of the last week, his poops are pale, from yellowish to tan.  Could this be because of the MSPI and getting food he can't tolerate?  I'm worried about celiac disease.  I know pale poop is a symptom, and I so don't want to find out that my son, who I thought would outgrow his food issues, may have something permanent.

When he was younger, before I knew he was MSPI, milk-based formula would give him bad gas, pain, and green poop.  Today he cried for 2 minutes during and after making a pale poop.

I know when I switched from Neocate to Whole Milk his stools became harder, and if I wasn't careful with giving him enough fibre fruit and veg, he's struggle.

Is his poop's any different in consistency?  Are they runny or mucousy?  Or just a different colour?

You could try eliminating the dairy again for a couple of weeks and see if he gets better.  If he does, then I'd say stay away from the dairy for a bit more.  If he doesn't get better then I'd say it's something more and you'd need to speak with the doctor.  Hope that helps :)
