Title: When to introduce dairy to dd? (Ds Mpi)
Post by: hemz80 on May 23, 2009, 21:25:01 pm
Hi

Wondering if anyone has had a similar dilema to me....

DS was mpi... long hard road and steep learning curve for me. Had it from birth and took me until 6/7mo to find out. Luckily he's outgrown it now.  DD has been bf from birth and i'm trying to decide when to introduce dairy to her.  I've just started solids and i'm just a bit concerned that she might be missing out on vital calories/ calcium etc by avoiding dairy from her diet.  On the other hand i'm totally petrified that she might be mpi or mpsi too  :'(

Has anyone else been through a similar thing??  Or had any reasonable advice on what to do??  I asked our health visitor and she was very vague as was the GP  ::)

Hema x

Are you still having dairy while BFing? IS she OK with that?

Yes... and she seems fine.  But ds wasn't too bad with me having dairy but he couldn't take formula etc.

If she is tolerating it OK from you, then maybe start between 9 and 12 months and go really slowly? eg 1/2 teaspoon of yoghurt to start with.

Thank you... my thoughts were similar, 6mths too early but 12mths to late... so somewhere inbetween sounds good!
