Title: Moving to Cow's milk
Post by: scucci1979 on November 06, 2009, 01:25:47 am
i am going to try Cow's milk next week for my lo but I have a large history of lactose intolerance in my family.  I can't touch dairy but she seems fine with cheese, yogurt and formula.  Wondering when I make the switch can she become intolerant to it. If so, what are the symptoms to look for?

Hugs, hun.  You might get more help on the allergy boards....so many Moms over there will know how to advise!

formula is made of cows milk so she may be perfectly ok with the switch.  I would do it gradually to give her system a chance to get used to it slowly.

Gradually is how we transitioned from reflux formula to cows milk! We mixed the milks and gradually added 1 oz of cows milk/ 1 less oz of formula for 2 nights then did 2oz of cows milk/2 oz less of formula etc. It worked well because we were able to see any reaction and swap back to just formula if necessary - 4 times in fact before we could transition properly ::).
