Title: Frequently getting the "Internal Server Error" page
Post by: jess, lukeys_mom on January 07, 2010, 13:52:42 pm: I regularly will click to a new page on the site and get the same Internal Server Error page that we get when the site is hacked or down for a long period. Usually after a minute or two of refreshing, or in some cases by typing in the home page address again, this will be solved. But it always has me worried nonetheless.

Are others also getting this page? And is it "normal"?

this time, it's most likely not a problem on our end. Tom (nosenose) has said that there are some problems with the host server that they are trying to iron out. no idea on their progress, though.

And often when I try to post something, it will take FOREVER to post, or if I click on "show new replies" that will also take 2 or 3 minutes to go through. Sounds funny to complain by saying "It took TWO minutes!!!!"...but that is a long time! LOL.

Did have a day or so when I thought the site was down or something as everytime I tried to post, it died and when I tried to access the site again, got the message.

So there are some problems with the forum software and it's basically 'locking up' from time to time. We plan on re-installing and starting from scratch soon. I didn't realise it was happening so regularly for everyone though.

It's good to know you are all getting it. No no, I don't mean it's good you are getting it :) Au contraire. I just mean it's good that I know about it as it nudges me to get on with above mentioned re-install :)

There may be some rough moments when we re-install while we get all the features back up to par, so hold tight.

Watch this space.

one of my BW gals is also a friend on FB and she has told me she hasnt been able to get on here for quite awhile, not sure why though

About general slowness, yes it is possible that this is related. As for the root cause of this, I am not 100% sure, but we are gonna be starting from a 'clean slate' (don't worry, not losing any posts/messages ;) ) and hopefully we will be more stable from there.

And it's getting ridiculous now, I start this today.

Just the internal server error page. Reckon there's a chance that when I get the message once, my browser caches the error page from then on so when I try to go to the site again it's lazy and displays the error page it got before rather than actually going and fetching the page. grrrrr........ i think my browser's out to get me ;)

anyhooo, thought I should let you know that i got it for quite a while tonight. maybe i'm hitting the site at peak time :-\

The "autoforward" is a substitute error page that offers slightly different information to the typical Error 500 page that you receive. The page is only apparent when accessing the forum from via a link from the main Babywhisperer.com website, and not when attempting to access the forum directly :)

And no amount of forum error threads have the power of an irate wife who sees red when she sees server 500 errors. It's being worked on, have no fear :-)

One of the database tables was in error, I ran a repair which has hopefully taken care of it. It's a slightly different issue to the "Internal Server Error". Hopefully we won't get a repeat of today's error too often.

Once I got in to work I had to work on 'tuning' the database server. Since mid-afternoon in Canada, it is looking fairly healthy and the forum seems more snappy (to me).

How have you all found it today? Faster? Slower? Same-er?

If we all think it's singing along then I think tomorrow may be 're-enable search' day and we can see how it handles that...

Been getting them this lunchtime (I gave up) and then loads and loads tonight. Doesn't seem to happen when I post a reply so much as click on New Replies. Don't know if that helps. Seems to last 5 mins (not sure if that's my cache though). Then when I give the site one last try, let's me back in again.

Tonight I've been getting the error regularly over 2 hours +
