Title: Fatal error message 05/15
Post by: ~ Vik ~ on May 15, 2010, 21:48:16 pm
Getting strange new error messages that say 'fatal error' and also a blank screen. They don't last long, but have gotten 3 in the past 10min. Any thoughts?

I've had loads of these this evening.

If the server error comes up and I refresh the page, then the fatal error comes up.  If I refresh again I get the normal page??? ??? ??? ??

Me too!  Am going batty refreshing and remembering to copy before posting!

If i'm not getting the normal error message I'm getting that fatal error message saying there is a lack of memory.

Just got it trying to post this so here it is in case that helps:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 4980736) (tried to allocate 311296 bytes) in /home/thebabyw/public_html/smf/Sources/Post.php on line 1445

I've gotten a strange one too, it wasn't fatal error, but it wasn't the usual internal server error either!

*banging head on table*
Make it stop! Make it stop!
I've lost count of how many I've had today.
This was the latest about 30 seconds ago:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 3670016) (tried to allocate 311296 bytes) in /home/thebabyw/public_html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1788) : eval()'d code on line 609

This is what I just got...

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@smf.thebabywhisperer.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. 5 Internal server errors which become blank pages if I refresh, which revert back to the login page if I refresh again while trying to login.  ::)

The fatal error message appears when I click on the little symbol to take you to the latest update in a thread, ironically this one as well!

Oh and eight 404 internal errors and four fatal errors while trying to post this!

Well I have it too. I see that the server was restarted about 20 mins ago. I just restarted the web and database bits and straight away I saw the error again...

I think it's time we got a dedicated server for this thing. I will have to have a proper look at this a little later as Finn is... 'high maintenance' right now :)

Sorry peoples :(

Tom...

I am getting it every time I try to post.

OK, so I just reduced the amount of memory that the database uses, so there is more memory free on the system. This should stop this new error for now, but our old friend error 500 could get more popular as the database struggles with less marmite.. err... memory.

I will work with Gareth to get us more memory or a real server :)
