I had saved up a stash of bm so that DH could give bottles or whomever else when needed. But now I am on an elimination diet, so that stash is pretty useless. :( I am still pumping every day, so we can give 1 bottle, yet I still have plenty leftover. But is it a waste at this point? I have been off dairy since Friday and it is Tuesday. How long does the protein stay in bm? If I have milk from today, can I freeze it and use it next week or the week after? Or should I dump it at this point? It is so disappointing that I have all of this milk and can't use it.

The milk protein isn't going anywhere from the frozen milk, sorry. Freezing doesn't change the protein content. :(
There are so few breast milk donation programs in the States, but you can call around and see if anyone will accept a donation. Start perhaps with the local hospital?
Not sure about new milk you're already producing, tho....

Right, this is why I am disappointed in my wasted stash.
What I don't understand is if milk protein is still in my body and therefore still in my BM at this point.

I want to say it takes like 2 weeks for milk proteins to clear the body?
-
OK, thanks!
-
Yup 2 wks to clear out of your body!!!

Hmm explains a bit. Sid is still puking 3 days after me eating fish pie with milk in it. I missed it so much!

Hey mmom,
Yes, general rule of thumb is that it takes up to 2 weeks for the milk protein to get out of your system, (then up to another 2 weeks to get out of your LO's system).
Big big (((hugs))) it is SO disheartening to get rid of that stored BM. I had to dump loads of it (couldn't donate because I was on meds as well that donation centers wouldn't accept) and it stunk!
As deb mentioned donating to hospitals/centers is a great idea. I couldn't donate mine because of a med I was on at the time, but perhaps it would be an option for you?

It has been 1 month since I stopped bf and the milk is still in my freezer. :-[ I haven't gotten around to getting rid of it. I also haven't called the hospitals to see if they can use it, which is irresponsible. i don't know if they would take it at this point. I had so much going on at the time and couldn't face it.

I've got a huge stash too... its dairy milk free but not gluten free --- blah!
